They were who can be traced their rating of subjective and objective improvements of the symptoms, returning to routine life and electrophysiologic results. There were 20 cases of open release in 16 patients and 19 cases of endoscopic release in 11 patients. Results: There were no significant difference between open and endoscopic method in treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome. Endoscopic release group showed a little bit better results in the aspect of early return to work and postoperative scar and pillar pain. Postoperative complications. in open release group was a persistent scar tenderness (1 case) and those of endoscopic release group were a common digital nerve injury (1 case) and hematoma formation (1 case). Conclusion: Although endoscopic carpal tunnel release has a few more advantages in carpal tunnel release compared with open method, the overall clinical results were not significantly different between two groups. Thus, more consideration should be taken in chooing endoscopic method because its inherent risk.
