Abstract
We did retrospective study of 16 cases of bony mallet fingers, which were type 4 as Doyle classification. Dividing the operation method as closed reduction method and open reduction method, we analysed the preferred method for each type and the result by each operation method in a type. In type 4B, open method was preferred. In type 4C, there were two methods. one is closed reduction and K-wire fixation and the other is open reduction and K-wire fixation or pull-out wire suture. 18 gauge syringe needle was used for closed reduction and guide for K-wire fixation. With closed reduction, 50.0% of patients showed satisfactory result. 75.5% of satisfactory result was obtained by open method. Open method looked superior to closed treatment.
