Abstract |
Purpose Extension lag of distal interphalangeal joint after replantation is difficult problem to correct. These deformities can be treated with many surgical techniques. Spiral oblique retinacular ligament reconstruction is the useful one of the surgical modalities. Methods: From January 2004 to February 2006, a total of 6 fingers that had extension lag of distal interphalangeal joint were corrected using spiral oblique retinacular ligament reconstruction. Dorsal incision was made from base of distal phalanx to proximal phalanx was done, and then harvested tendon was lied distally at the dorsum of the distal phalanx and the distal end of the tendon was fixed to distal phalanx. The tendon was passed volarly and proximally along the side of the middle phalanx and obliquely crossed the front of the proximal interphalangeal joint to the opposite side of the digit at the proximal phalanx. Then the proximal end of the tendon was fixed by pull-out suture to proximal phalanx. Result: In all cases, extension lag of distal interphalangeal joint were corrected. Conclusion: Spiral oblique retinacular ligament reconstruction is effective and recommendable methods for correction of extension lag of distal interphalangeal joint after replantation of amputation fingers. |
