Abstract
A periosteal chondroma is a slow-growing, benign, cartilagenous tumor that usually develops on the surface of cortical bone under or within the periosteum in young adults. It is called an eccentric chondroma and it erodes the underlying cortex without penetrating into the bone marrow cavity. We have encountered four cases of periosreal chondromas arising in the phalangeal bones of the hand. All were treated by curettage without recurrence.
