Abstract |
Purpose : The purpose of this study was to compare the clinical result of the operation technique between subcutaneous to fascia suture and fasciodermal sling in compressive ulnar neuropathy at elbow treated with anterior subcutaneous transposition. Materials and Methods : Total 24 patients were classified according to McGowan method evaluated sensory, muscle power and EMG before operation. In all 24 cases, 13 cases were treated with subcutaneous to fascia suture technique(Group I) and 11 patients were treated with fasciodermal sling technique(Group II). After operation, the patients of each groups were analysed in Messina method by testing pain, sensory muscle power and finger deformity. Result : Preoperatively in Group I, grade I was in no case, grade II in 6 cases and grade III in 7 cases. Postoperatively in the grade II, Good was in 3 cases and fair was in 3 cases. In the grade III, Good was in 5 cases and fair was in 2 cases. And also in the cases of Group II, grade I was no case, 5 cases were grade II, 6 cases were grade III preoperatively. In postoperative evaluation of the grade II cases, Good was in 3 cases and fair was in 2 cases. And in the grade III cases, Good was in 4 cases and fair was in 2 cases. There were no statistical significant differences of operative results exist between two groups. Conclusion : In compressive ulnar neuropathy at elbow, the clinical result of subcutaneous to fascia suture and fasciodermal sling technique was good and no difference of results between the two techniques exists. |
