Abstract
Dorsal and volar distal radioulnar ligaments are major structures concerning of stability in distal radioulnar joint and in addition, triangular fibrocartilagenous complex, pronator teres, interosseous membrane and distal radioulnar joint capsule. Chronic distal radioulnar joint instability is very rare and the incidence of its volar instability is less than that of its dorsal instability. Various tendon reconstruction methods have been reported for cases without distal radioular bony deformity or articular surface change in carpus, but there is controversy regarding to the choice of treatment. We report one patient of volar instability in distal radioulnar joint not associated with joint surface change or severe deformity of distal radius and ulna, operated by tenodesis with extensor carpi ulnaris tendon. He shows excellent clinical result at 6 month follow-up.
