Abstract
A case of unusual extraskeletal osteogenic lesion of the finger is reported. It occured in the digits of the hand with a marked painful fusiform swelling and limitation of the flexion. Histologically, it displayed the ill-defined zoning pattern of immature spindle cell areas mixed with more mature areas of osteoid metaplasia. Immunohistochemically, the spindle cells stained positively for vimentin and actin. No stromal staining for cytokeratin or S-100 was identified. Ki-67, a proliferation marker, showed positive staining of the stromal cells. The diagnosis of the patient was fibro-osseous pseudotumor, which is also called as pseudomalignant osseous tumor of the digit. The lesion had shown no evidence of recurrence 1 year after local excision and the patient had demonstrated no evidence of systemic manifestation.
