Abstract
Fracture of the carpal scaphoid is one of the most common injury occuring in the wrist joint. The most common injury mechanism of the fracture is the forceful dorsiflexion of the wrist joint with a radially deviat ed and out stretched hand on fall down. Occasionally, routine anteropost erior and lateral radiograms of wrist j oint fail to reveal scaphoid fracture, and the scaphoid view t aken with the wrist extension of 30 ¡Æand ulnar deviation of 20 ¡Æis most helpful to detect the hidden fracture. The scaphoids could be injured bilat erally. However, it is very rare and it must be differentiat ed from bipartite scaphoid or bilat eral stress fracture of the scaphoid, especially when the symptoms and signs of frature are not severe. This is a case report of the acute simult aneous bilat eral fractures of the scaphoid which occured in young female patient from a fall down on the stairs.
